Alternatives Crisis Pregnancy Centre
Schools and educational work, out-reach worker, home visits. The 'We Are Family Group' for young and vulnerable parents includes outings, parenting classes and life skills teaching, e.g. handling conflict, self-esteem, therapy around unplanned pregnancy and post abortion. Free service with clients being seen within 1-2 days. No childcare facilities at counselling centre but crèche provided at the 'We Are Family Group'.

Free service, no waiting list. Practitioners have specific training in child protection, keyworking and assessment, CBT, moptivational interviewing, life coaching, brief solution focussed therapy. Free condom distribution.

DASL (Drug and Alcohol Service for London)
Young persons' counselling aims to work with young people in an age-appropriate way, on the impact of living in a family where there is parental substance misuse and domestic violence. This will include providing young people with alternative strategies to managing personal or relationship difficulties rather than misusing substances and using violence. Service is free to residents of Newham or attending school in Newham. Waiting list usually 3-4 weeks. Counsellors have a minimum counselling diploma and there is a specialist young persons' counsellor. Clinical specialisms in substance misuse and domestic violence.

NAADV (Newham Action Against Domestic Violence)
One to one counselling for children from 5+. Psychotherapy will make use of play therapy, sand play and therapeutic art. We also offer therapeutic workshops (puppet making, drama and animation, dependent on funding).

NAWP (Newham Asian Women's Project)
To provide emotional support, share experiences with the help of counsellor. NAWP operates from seven sites including an emergency hostel, a second stage hostel and a resource centre. NAWP also offers legal advice, training, mental health support, counseling, Zindaagi - project on self harm, and a young women's support group and other support groups called Teens. Free service, no waiting list. clinical specialisms in self harm, domestic violence.

Newham Schools Counselling Service
One to one counselling. We are currently proposing to develop our service and to provide a ‘package’ which would include individual Counselling or group work. We will also be offering consultation and support services for Heads, teachers and SENCOs in work with children with emotional difficulties and the impact on the whole class, understanding the emotional factors in learning and teaching and how that can help with IEPs, improving relationships in School .

Outreach Project
Offers practical advice and advocacy to children and families to access services they are entitled to such as: housing, financial support, health and education. Provides emotional support to children and their families living in temporary education. Listens to issues affecting transient children and their families and involve them in identifying solutions. Facilitates children in participating in decision-making processes of the Newham Children's Fund, empowering them to express their views and needs to relevant bodies in society. Free service. Project workers have training in immigration, benefits, mental health.

Offer therapeutic intervention with young refugees and migrants who are experiencing difficulties dealing with changes in their life - culture, environment or relationships. Some group work. Clinical supervisors.

Young Forrest Therapeutic Service
Provides one to one psychotherapy for children, adults and school staff. Parent groups are run in schools to support the therapeutic work. Payment scaled according to income. Waiting list of 2 weeks. Practitioners have clinical training, with specialisms in art therapy, play therapy gestalt psychotherapy and other creative therapeutic approaches.

Youth Information Advice Connexions Service
To provide information, advice, support and guidance to young people aged 13-19 years (up to 25 years if SEN/LDD) on any issues affecting them. Work with a range of target groups including teenage parents, at risk of offending, care leavers and those not in education employment or training. Advice Surgeries on: housing/homelessness, benefits and financial support, education, work, family and relationship issues, money/debt management, sexual health, drugs, crime, legal advice, volunteering, local youth activities and much, much more. Display boards with useful information leaflets, posters, directories and college/university prospectuses and EMA forms. Job Search Facilities which includes a job vacancy board, free newspapers, online job vacancies, telephone access, drop in CV building sessions, help with filling applications forms and interview tips. Personal Adviser Support is available for young people who have ongoing and difficult issues that need resolving. Home visits and schools work included. Youth Inclusion Support Panel - work with young people at risk of offending to find positive activites to engage within. Satellite services – Counselling sessions and job club.
