Provides help and support to women and children about health awareness, activities for children, mother tongue class, outings and holidays and also outreach to homes and hospital. Free service.

Apna Ghar
Girls picked up from points around the borough and returned home after sessions. Runs 24-hour helpline for domestic violence counselling. Domestic violence support group and a counselling service (through referrals only). Also provides an Asian older women's group

Provides a safe space for women to discuss issues about their children and family e.g. education, health, drugs, domestic violence, housing. We also organise trips and cultural parties.

Beckton Bangladesh Welfare Association (BBWA)
Mother-tongue and ESOL classes; youth, women and elderly projects; advice on welfare rights and counselling. Fills out forms and translates them for users.

We have a group of volunteers as trained mediators who are helping many people to constructively deal with disputes.

NAWP (Newham Asian Women's Project)
To provide emotional support, share experiences with the help of counsellor. NAWP operates from seven sites including an emergency hostel, a second stage hostel and a resource centre. NAWP also offers legal advice, training, mental health support, counseling, Zindaagi - project on self harm, and a young women's support group and other support groups called Teens. Free service, no waiting list. clinical specialisms in self harm, domestic violence.

New Londoners
Each project targets different age groups of young refugees and Roma children. For example: - The Young Refugees project supports young refugees in Newham and neighbouring boroughs to access services aged 13-19. - The National Young Refugees Media Project works with young refugees across England aged 13-19-years-old, ensuring young people are given a medium to express themselves. - The Roma Education project supports Roma children aged five to 13 with educational issues who live in Newham - The Leading Edge Initiative improves access to education for Young People aged 11-18 in Newham. - The Roma, Gypsy & Traveller Awareness-Raising Project empowers young people from these groups to educate others about them, and thus break the cycle of ignorance & discrimination that surrounds them. - The Roma Health Project provides health advocacy and raises awareness about the benefits of healthy living.

To improve parent's social and emotional development by explicitly providing info and support to enhance parents education and emotional health. Informal workshops with 'fun' topics to help parents relax and meet others.

Parents and Kids Zone
Drop-in centre for house-bounded people. Helps to empower women and children to reach their potential, encouraging community cohesion between Asian and other communities. We offer different workshops.

Reframe Team
Specialist outreach therapeutic mental health service for children with conduct disorders. This service will provide intensive support for up to 25 families per quarter including training and advice for parents and other professionals. In addition the service offers a parent helpline, whole family support and an Asian women’s groupwork session.

Roma Education Project
Aims to increase the number of Roma children in Newham registering at school and retaining places. Outreach, empowerment and family support. Works with Newham schools to raise awareness. Assistance with filling forms, interpretation and translation. Liaison and consultation.

Romanian Roma Project
Researches and developes profiles of Romanian Roma childrencoming to police attention in Greater London; works with agencies to keep them safe; works with young people and their families to assess their needs and enable them to access mainstream services; raise awareness of the plight of Roma in Romania.
